Description
Created in September 2024, this page is part of Food Punk, a radical project that grew out of a food blog on mindful eating and the independent publication of the book Cucina Consapevole. Between 2023 and 2025, every page of that book was hand-embroidered—a slow, meticulous, and repetitive gesture that turns words into matter, thoughts into threads.
Food Punk is a visceral inquiry into the primal bond between nourishment and the maternal figure. When food becomes a site of conflict, when what should sustain instead turns into threat, the body becomes an archive of trauma. The language of the table warps into a code of deprivation and obsession. In this context, thread becomes suture and rewriting—a way to mend the fracture between body and desire, between artist and mother.
The single pages, cut from a second copy of the book, gain autonomy. They become poetic relics, intimate fragments that, freed from the linearity of the original text, unfold as new visual and emotional maps. Each embroidery both traces and transforms the printed images: scissors, glasses, and everyday ingredients emerge as vibrant signs, tactile reliefs, autobiographical fragments.
No longer mere sheets of paper, these are autonomous textile works: domestic tableaux weaving together personal memory and collective imagination. Each page is unique and unrepeatable, meant to be displayed and cherished as a fragment of a narrative about nourishment, care, and identity.
