Description
Hinged medallion made from the lid of a small glass jar. Through the glass, the image of a field cricket can be glimpsed, cut from an old Zingarelli dictionary and hand embroidered. The talisman can be worn either as a brooch, pinned to the lapel of a jacket or to a garment, or as a pendant, hung around the neck on a ribbon or a chain.
By lifting the glass lid, the cricket is revealed, kept like a small presence to be protected and listened to. On the back, a fragment of vintage cotton lace is sewn in place. Above it, another piece of dictionary paper and the artist’s signature, hand embroidered on linen. Every element is assembled by hand, making each talisman a one-of-a-kind piece.
The cricket has long been a symbol of good fortune, vigilance, and inner listening. Dwelling on the threshold between the visible and the invisible. It sings in the shadows and keeps company with silence, recalling the value of waiting, steadiness, and faithfulness to one’s own rhythm. In many traditions, it is considered a domestic good-luck charm. It’s associated with the protection of the home, prosperity, and the ability to find one’s way even in times of uncertainty.
This talisman is conceived as an everyday companion. Discreet, lightweight, and close to the body. It can be opened, touched, and observed up close, turning the gesture into a small personal ritual. Ordinary materials—glass, metal, paper, and fabric are reactivated through embroidery and hand assembly, giving shape to an object that weaves together memory, attention, and presence.
Housed in custom packaging, plastic-free and made from natural materials, the talisman is meant to accompany its wearer as a sign of quiet protection, listening, and continuity.
