A silent expanse, vast and shifting, where thread flows like slow water. The giant seaweed unfurls in soft, wavelike lines, like a breath held in the depths of the sea. Hand embroidery on antique hemp captures shifting reflections and shadows, revealing a secret movement—almost imperceptible—as if emerging from another time.

Description

This placemat is born from a vintage hemp cloth, chosen for its unique texture and the memory it carries within. The hand embroidery depicts a kelp—a giant seaweed that thrives in the cold, deep waters stretching from Alaska to Mexico—symbol of strength and fluidity.

Natural cotton thread traces delicate, undulating lines, intertwining like the slow, steady movement of seaweed swaying underwater. The size of the placemat makes it ideal for moments of rest and care, an intimate, poetic presence on the table or a favorite surface.

Geographies of the Nest continues its narrative of autobiographical textiles—objects layered with history, affection, and everyday gestures. Each piece, like this placemat, is one of a kind, a custodian of emotional landscapes woven from memories and subtle presences.

The materials are chosen with care, favoring natural and vintage fibers that carry traces of time and attentive hands. Antique hemp and cotton merge in a dialogue of textures and quiet stories.

For care: machine wash gently at 40°C with natural detergent, without fabric softener. Best air-dried away from direct sunlight, and ironed inside-out with a cotton cloth to preserve the embroidery.
