This work explores adaptability as a form of fluid intelligence—the ability to find solutions in movement rather than resistance.

Water becomes the metaphor of what allows itself to be crossed: in its relentless flow it carves, shapes, and transforms even stone. Knowing how to slide away from what does not matter is an act of awareness, a delicate balance between presence and detachment.

The transparency of glass reflects this dual nature: fragility and resilience, openness and resistance. Each element becomes a symbol of conscious surrender—an adaptation without loss of substance.

Koi carp, emblems of wisdom and good fortune in Japanese tradition, embody the motion of the piece itself: they move through currents with lightness, never resisting, yet never losing their way.

Description

Created in August 2018, this hand embroidery on lightweight linen (40×35 cm) is housed in a cardboard box, reinforced with small wooden panels (16×32×6 cm) and covered with glass objects, drawings, archival materials, and symbolic items.

“Slide” is part of the Emotional Archaeology series, where each stitched fragment embodies an inner memory preserved in physical form. The creative process unfolds through found objects, lived-in fabrics, and autobiographical impressions. Each work is one of a kind and cannot be replicated.

The materials are delicate and often rare: vintage medical gauze, hand-drawn tissue paper, translucent fabrics, elements of glass, wood, and metal. Some are recycled, others altered over time. Every component is chosen for its tactile and evocative qualities, and assembled to preserve its original identity. Each piece is shipped in custom eco-friendly packaging, protected by natural materials and completely plastic-free. It is designed to be stored indoors in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity. The embroidery can be machine-washed at 40°C with natural detergent and no fabric softener. Avoid opening the box frequently and handle with care: the materials are fragile and will last over time only if preserved attentively.
