A saffron bulb blossoms on a fragment of old shroud linen. Its stem rises upward, stretching from the depths of the earth toward the light—like a resurfacing memory. A symbol of splendor and prosperity since antiquity, the crocus holds a dual meaning: matter and spirit, wellbeing and transformation. Its flower embodies the ancestral need to ascend.

The box amplifies this momentum: vivid colors, metallic applications, and a plaque salvaged from an old elevator—a witness to countless journeys, and another signal of the urgency to rise beyond the visible limit.

Description

Created in March 2021, this embroidery on a fragment of linen shroud (43×9 cm) is enclosed in a small cubic box (7.5×7.5×7.5 cm), covered with found objects, collage layers, and visual fragments.

“Saffron bulb” is part of the Emotional Archaeology series, where each stitched fragment embodies an inner memory preserved in physical form. The creative process grows from found objects, lived-in fabrics, and autobiographical impressions. Each of these works is unique and unrepeatable.

The materials used are delicate and often rare: vintage medical gauze, hand-drawn tissue paper, translucent fabrics, elements of glass, wood, and metal. Some are recycled, others altered over time. Every component is chosen for its tactile and evocative qualities, and assembled in ways that preserve its original identity. Each piece is shipped in custom, eco-friendly packaging, protected with natural materials and entirely plastic-free. It is designed to be stored indoors in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and humidity. The embroidery can be machine-washed at 40°C with natural detergent and no fabric softener. Avoid opening the box too often and handle with care: the materials are fragile and meant to endure only if preserved attentively.
