Description
Created in July 2020, this embroidery—stitched on a linen napkin cut from an old bedsheet (42×38.5 cm) — is housed inside a cardboard box lined and filled with seashells (19×19×10 cm), along with botanical, marine, and photographic fragments.
Nearshore belongs to the series Emotional Archaeology, where each sewn fragment represents an inner memory preserved in physical form. The creative process begins with found objects, worn fabrics, and autobiographical impressions. Every piece is unique and cannot be replicated.
The materials used are delicate and often one-of-a-kind: vintage medical gauze, hand-drawn tissue papers, translucent fabrics, and elements of glass, wood, and metal. Some are recycled, others altered over time. Each component is chosen for its tactile and evocative qualities, and assembled in a way that preserves its original identity.
Every work is shipped in custom packaging, cushioned with natural, plastic-free materials. It is intended for storage in dry indoor spaces, away from direct sunlight and humidity. The embroidery can be machine-washed at 104°F/40°C with a natural detergent and no softener. Please avoid opening the box too often and handle with care: the materials are fragile and designed to last only if treated with attention.
