Description
Created in September 2021, this embroidery is stitched on a strip of cotton cut from an old dowry bedsheet (2×166 cm). It is preserved inside a kraft-paper envelope (17×25 cm), layered with salvaged objects: a silver utensil, historical fragments, photographs, antique documents, and handwritten texts. Together, they guard a small treasure of talismans and memory-objects.
Monstrosity of excess belongs to the series Emotional Archaeology, where each sewn fragment becomes a vessel of inner memory, transformed into physical form. The creative process unfolds through found objects, timeworn fabrics, and autobiographical traces. Each work is one of a kind—never to be repeated.
The materials are delicate and often unique: vintage medical gauze, hand-drawn tracing papers, translucent fabrics, glass, wood, and metal. Some are recycled, others altered by time. Every component is chosen for its tactile and evocative qualities, and assembled in a way that preserves its original identity. Each piece is shipped in custom, plastic-free packaging, protected with natural materials. Best kept in dry indoor spaces, away from sunlight and humidity. The embroidery can be machine-washed at 40°C with natural detergent and without fabric softener. Avoid opening the box frequently and handle with care: the materials are fragile, meant to endure only if treated attentively.
