This single page (21×22 cm), hand-embroidered on ecological paper, belongs to the Food Punk series. The printed image of a dish ready to be consumed is transfigured into a poetic, autobiographical fragment: thread becomes suture and memory, a gesture intertwining nourishment, body, and desire.

Description

Created in January 2024, this page is a spin-off of Food Punk, a radical project that transforms the book Cucina Consapevole into a contemporary textile artwork. Every sheet of the volume has been entirely hand-embroidered, in a slow, repetitive gesture that turns words into matter and thought into weaving.

Food Punk is a visceral investigation of the primal relationship between nourishment and the maternal figure. When food becomes a ground of conflict and what should sustain instead turns into threat, the body becomes an archive of traumas and the language of the table warps into a code of deprivation and obsession. Within this context, thread becomes suture, rewriting—an attempt to mend the fracture between body and desire, between artist and mother.

The single pages, detached from a second copy of the book, acquire an autonomous force. They become poetic relics, intimate fragments that, freed from the linearity of the text, offer themselves as new visual and emotional maps. In this page, the photographic image of a dish ready to be consumed is transfigured by embroidery: contours rise in relief, color turns into matter, and the image shifts into an emotional landscape and stitched memory.

No longer mere sheets of paper, but autonomous textile works: domestic tableaux, contemporary talismans weaving together personal memory and collective imagination. Each page is unique, unrepeatable, conceived to be displayed and cherished as a fragment of a narrative that speaks of nourishment, care, and identity.
